Soft Tissue Therapy

What is Soft Tissue Therapy?

Soft Tissue Therapy (STT) is a safe and effective way of helping all people with minor and chronic injuries using a combination of traditional hands-on methods alongside exercise and movement rehabilitation programs.

STT involves the assessment and treatment of any soft tissue injury that is causing pain and abnormal function.

Soft Tissue does not mean soft as in gentle – but refers to body structures that are not hard, like bone. Soft tissues include: all levels of muscle (from superficial to deep), tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, fibrous tissues, nerves and blood vessels.

It is applicable not just to sports people but to anybody wishing to recover from a soft tissue injury, improve mobility and overall quality of life. All this has the additional benefit of improving your mental well-being too.

The aim of Soft Tissue Therapy is to help you to move more freely, feel less pain, recover from injury faster, perform better and achieve your goals, whatever they might be.

What techniques are used in STT?

  • Soft Tissue Release (STR)
  • Muscle Energy Technique - Post isometric relaxation (MET PIR)
  • Muscle Energy Technique - Reciprocal inhibition (MET RI)
  • Myofascial Release (MFR)
  • Trigger Point Therapy (TPT)
  • Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT)
  • Dry Cupping
  • General/relaxing/deep Massage
